Today In History

1965: On this day (November 2nd) in 1965 American Quaker Norman Morrison sat in front of the lake entrance to the pentagon and set him self on fire to protest the use of napalm in Vietnam.

2011: On November 2nd Michael Rayner caught the 397 and overheard the most interesting and articulate conversation between a middle aged man and an old lady about the male subject enjoying not only one but TWO sandwiches before watching the Melbourne cup.

The conversation included such highlights as;

- “So much butter! It was covered in butter!

- “Then I put on an extra piece of chicken

- “…and then I had ANOTHER one!

- “I was almost in tears

Take that history!
